Hey everyone,

My name is Zoe and I am a marine biology student from Ireland. I’m here in Imperia for two months.
My time in Imperia with Delfini Del Ponente has been amazing so far. I’m halfway through my internship and loving every minute.
I love the people, the culture, the scenery and the overall vibe of Imperia.

It’s hard to pinpoint which has been my favourite experience so far, but I would have to say that spotting dolphins during a land-based survey and rushing down to the zodiac to start an opportunistic survey was one of the most exciting. Speeding through the water to find the bottlenose dolphins was thrilling.

For me, the magic of seeing dolphins never fades, no matter how many times you see them. Watching them dance and glide through the water is breathtaking and never fails to fill me with happiness.

Although many hours on the zodiac are spent without spotting anything, once you have a sighting, everything falls into place and it’s so worth the time. As well as both bottlenose and striped dolphins, we’ve seen some loggerhead turtles and lots of sunfish, which are equally beautiful to spot.

Seeing the sunset as we return to the harbor is so heavenly and the view of Imperia and the snow-capped mountains is beautiful. I love the unpredictability of the surveys; you never know what magic awaits you on the water.

After every survey, I feel an overwhelming sense of fulfillment. I feel so proud and blessed to be part of such an important organization, and I know I’ll treasure it forever. I’ve always wanted to be a marine biologist and, more specifically, work with marine mammals, and having this as my first taste of work life has been so special.

I’m in awe of Davide, Elena, and Andrea and their dedication and passion for their work; it’s truly inspiring.
