[Eng below] Ciao a tutti, è di nuovo Rose che vi parla!
Son già passate tre settimane da quando sono arrivata ad Imperia e ho iniziato il mio lavoro come Intern Coordinator per il progetto Delfini del Ponente e lo adoro!
I survey per monitorare i delfini sono stati fantastici, la città è favolosa e sto mantenendo la promessa di testare regolarmente la qualità del gelato (il gusto nutella è al primo posto in classifica al momento!).
Il tempo che trascorriamo in mare è il mio preferito e ho addirittura fatto il mio primo avvistamento la scorsa settimana, quando per prima ho visto un gruppo di tursiopi. E’ stato davvero emozionante vedere apparire le loro pinne attraverso il binocolo, e ha reso le ore trascorse pazientemente in ricerca altamente ricompensate!
Ho anche visto le stenelle striate, super giocose sotto la prua del gommone, e 3 balenottere comuni hanno reso il giorno di whale watching sulla Corsara davvero spettacolare. Anche il resto della fauna marina avvistata non è stato meno entusiasmante- ho avvistato molti uccelli marini, inclusi i fenicotteri che non avevo mai visto prima in natura e ora sono in grado di riconoscere tra le berte minori e maggiori piuttosto bene. Per non parlare dei pesci luna!
Fa davvero piacere essere parte di questo team, siamo anche stati in paesi vicini per esplorarli, mangiare ottimo cibo e fare yoga. Essere qui e lavorare a questo entusiasmante progetto è davvero bello e sono contenta di essere ancora all’inizio del mio periodo qui- ricco di molti altri cetacei (speriamo!), snorkeling (assolutamente) e gelato (senza alcun dubbio!) in arrivo!
Oh, dimenticavo…il mio italiano sta migliorando giorno dopo giorno!

Hello again, Rose here.
It has almost been three weeks since arriving in Imperia and starting my role as intern coordinator for the project and I am loving it!
The dolphin surveys have been fantastic, the town is gorgeous and I am keeping up my promise of regularly taste testing the infamous gelato (nutella is top of the leaderboard at the moment).
Time out at sea is my favourite time and I even made my first sighting last week, where I was first to spot a group of bottlenose dolphins. It is a real thrill to see their fins appear through your binoculars and makes the hours of patience so rewarding.
I’ve also seen striped dolphins, they were bow riding and being very playful, and three fin whales made my day on the Cosara pretty spectacular. The other marine fauna hasn’t disappointed either – I’ve seen many birds, including flamingos, which I have never seen in the wild before and can relatively successfully differentiate between Scopoli’s and Mediterranean Shearwaters. The sunfish are pretty cool too!
It’s a great team to be a part of and we have been on lovely trips to the nearby villages to explore, eat food and for yoga.
Being here and working on such an exciting project has been brilliant and I am very happy to still be near the beginning of my time here – with many more cetaceans (hopefully), snorkeling (definitely) and ice cream (absolutely!) to come.
Oh, and did I mention my Italian is coming along nicely…
