[Eng below] Questa settimana con Costa Balenae è stata interessante. Non potendo uscire in mare abbiamo fatto tanta photo ID nei primi giorni, finalmente il tempo ha deciso di aiutarci permettendoci di uscire per vedere i cetacei…anche se loro non sapendo questo non si sono fatti avvistare! Ma non ci possiamo lamentare, infatti siamo riusciti ugualmente ad avvistare tre sule, alcune berte minori, qualche cormorano e marangone e un martin pescatore in diverse occasioni!
Certo, avrei preferito vedere anche tusiopi (o qualsiasi altro cetaceo) come la settimana scorsa quandoli abbiamo incontrati; ma penso di essere stata la persona più felice sul gommone quando abbiamo incontrato qualcos’altro: un pesce luna! E’ stato il mio primo incontro con questo pesce buffo. Sapevo bene quanto fosse grande, peró sapere e vedere sono due cose differenti: è veramente grandissimo! Inoltre, quando ci siamo fermati ieri per pranzo abbiamo visto unoctenoforo che nuotava sotto la superfice. Questi invertebrati sono stupendi e misteriosi a loro modo. Non so spiegare perché, ma meduse e ctenofori da sempre rappresentano il mistero del profondo, per me.
Essendo il primo internship della mia vita, quasi tutte le cose sono “le prime” per me, ma penso che niente possa oltrepassare il primo avvistamento dei tusiopi cosí vicini che se avessi allunto un braccio avrei quasi potuto sfiorarli! Decisamente il momento che stavo sognando da tutta la mia vita :D!
P.s.: abbiamo anche lavorato due giorni di questa settimana e cosí avendo qualche soldo possiamo mangiare più gelati!=P

This week was very interesting with Costa Balenae. Although in the first days we couldn’t go out to the sea so we did a lot of photo ID, at the weekend finally the weather wanted us to see cetaceans, even though the dolphins not being aware of this we couldn’t spot them, unfortunately. But! Other marine animals seemed to know about our intention to meet them, so we could see three gannets, plenty of Mediterranean shearwaters, some cormorants and a Kingfisher this latest was seen several times J .
Certainly, I wanted to see bottlenose dolphins (or any other kind of cetaceans) like last week, when we spotted them, but still, I thought I was the happiest person on the Zodiac when I noticed something else: a Mola mola! It was my first encounter with this funny fish. I knew that’s a huge animal, but knowing and seeing something in real life are two different things. It’s big indeed! Additionally, when we stopped for having lunch yesterday we saw a Ctenophora swimming underneath the surface beneath our boat. It was so beautiful and somehow full of secrets. I couldn’t explain why, but for me, jellyfish and Ctenophora have always meant the mystery of depth.
Being on the first internship in my life almost everything is „the first” for me, but I think nothing can surpass the first sighting of bottlenose dolphins so close to us if I had reached my arms I could have touched them. That was the moment what I had been dreaming of since I was a little, innocent child :D !
In brackets: we also had a two-day job this week and so earning some money we can eat more gelati.
